The photographs used to create this landscape were taken on a recent family trip by the artist, to the South of Turkey, in the Antalya province. The work is inspired by the colours, mountains and textures of the road towards the Xanthos archeological site and Pinara in the mountains. Small towns in the area have sheep and their herders that cross the road and each town has at least one mosque with minarets reaching into the sky. The people living in these towns seemed to be self sufficient and very adept at living off the land and respecting the landscape that sustains them.
