Painting & mixed media

Janet Botes creates mixed media artworks and paintings on wood, canvas, cloth, paper, found objects, or by using different materials together. Techniques include collage, assemblage and reworked prints, while the creation process consists of painting, inking, sanding, scratching, cutting, and whatever else is needed for the artwork… Often her work entails the use of layering to add depth or texture, emphasize the message, or to achieve the desired effect. Paint is often mixed in studio, with pigments sourced from nature. Assemblage pieces are often created from found objects, offcuts and other discarded materials.
