My art is created intuitively and is often process-based, in situ or experimental. My work includes land art, installation art, watercolour paintings, performances, drawings, mixed media and new media art. As part of my creative process, my art involves working just as much outside than in the studio. My starting point and focus is primarily about our place and connection within the web of life and aims to honour the sacredness, cycles and biodiversity of the Earth.
Please note that I only sell & deliver within South Africa through this online shop. If you’re interested in my work and based outside of South Africa, please contact me.

Instead of worrying about what you cannot control, shift your energy to what you can create. Colour outside the lines, live outside the box. Don’t let anyone tell you what to do, or not. Don’t be afraid, listen to your heart. Heaven is a state of being – of one-ness, and Hell is a state of being – lost. We simply need to live as we best define ourselves, find our own ways of being who we are in our world. Jay Woodman

Deer Park Tree Moment
pencil on art paper
29.7 x 420 cm
2019 A drawing inspired by land art created in Deer Park at the foot of Table Mountain – breaking and fitting twigs found on the ground into the nook of a tree. This drawing was created in a very sensitive way to capture the fragility of the moment – at any moment a gust of wind, or a finger’s touch pushing to hard onto the supporting branch, and most of the pieces of twig would fall out and need to be re-placed into the nook.
