Paper I often use are: Fabriano, textured cotton rag paper, cartridge paper, brown kraft paper, hand-made and found/upcycled paper. These artworks are all original artworks – one-of-a-kind – and expresses my explorations and experience of nature, biodiversity or ecology, and my soul connection to my own deepest Self, Spirit, the Cosmos and Mother Earth. I often create my art as a prayer, with the intention of honouring the sacred within all things. My art on paper also includes drawings, paintings and nature observations that include representational art of insects, leaves, trees, rocks and feathers. Other artworks are expressive and intuitive explorations that bring different elements together – different subjects, materials, concepts or views. Some of my drawings inspired by nature are created ‘plein air’ (19th century style of painting outside) – on site when I am hiking, going to the beach or visiting a site to create land art.       • Painting & mixed mediaThese mixed media artworks and paintings were created on wood, canvas, cloth, paper, found objects, or by using different materials together. Techniques include collage, assemblage and reworked prints, while the creation process consists of painting, inking, sanding, scratching, cutting, and whatever else is needed for the artwork… Often my work entails the use of layering to add depth or texture, emphasize the message, or to achieve the desired effect. Paint is often mixed in studio, with pigments sourced from nature. Assemblage pieces are often created from found objects, offcuts and other discarded materials. My mixed media work is usually done as once-off pieces, but I’ve also created works as part of thematic bodies of work for exhibitions, such as Wild & Still / Organism.
      • Limited edition printsMy art prints include monotype artworks, artwork reproductions of ink drawings and digital art created through the following process: For my mixed media and montage prints, the creative process starts with a physical painting, mushroom or potato print, texture or a printed photograph onto which I draw, paint, scratch or stitch. Other photographs are fashioned into a collage. This is then digitised and further edited, digitally drawn unto and merged with more painted textures, drawings or photographs in digital software to conjure the final artwork. It’s a process of creative alchemy where traditional art-making and digital technology comes together. The final artwork can only exist physically as a printed image. These artworks are largely sold as limited edition prints where only the amount specified are printed. Some of these are single edition prints – so only one print is made – while others are printed in editions of 3, 5, 10 or 12. I rarely print more than 12 in a limited edition print range, unless it strengthens the concept of the artwork in some way. Sometimes my art prints also include abstract or stylized illustrations inspired by ecology, conscious living, or as expressive art depicting an emotion or experience.…
